I have an update, guys… I’ve talked to the people at the hospital today and we have a tentative date set for the necessary endoscopic sinus surgery. Here is the link for the fundraiser. Anything and EVERYTHING helps… reblogs, shares, any donation at all. I found out today I’ll also need to be on Augmentin a week before and after my surgery, which is another $100-$150 at least. We have a long way to go to get anywhere close to the goal, and everything helps. EVERYTHING.

1. Kyran and his love and devotion for Rag & Bone, Alexander McQueen and Marc Jacobs. MARRY ME.

2. Marling’s comfortable life as an independent, flawed, impulsive, fun-loving, comfortable girl who happens to wear a size 12. Marling cleared her throat. “So your burning resentment against your telepathic family keeps you warm in the Russian winter? Because your shirt is really, really thin and I’m finding it hard to believe you’re that angry all the time.”

“No, mine is anomaly.” Viktor said the word with such force that Marling couldn’t help thinking he’d recently learned it and was quite proud of himself. “We think my great-grandfather had this too, this fire.” Viktor stopped and looked around quite thoroughly before wrapping his hand around one end of the stray branch he’d been playing with. When he removed his hand, a tiny flame danced atop the branch… and along his fingers.

Marling thought of Kyran’s warning that Viktor had burned people to death.

“I see,” she said. “Uh, is that just in your hands or are you like the Human Torch from Fantastic Four?”

Viktor stared at the growing flame that hovered over his fingers. “Just my hands.”

“You’ve never like… burned anyone, have you?”

The silence was almost unbearable. Marling’s mind filled to brim with images of Viktor wearing one of those super stereotypical Russian fur hats and a faded military uniform while he burned down houses with screaming families inside. She wasn’t sure exactly why he would do that, but fear can run rampant in that kind of silence.

“Yes, Marling.” His eyes fixed on her, so intense and so dark that she almost backed away from him. “But I’m very careful now. It’s been many years since I can’t control it. Are you afraid?”

“I’m a little afraid of fire, like most normal people are, but I don’t think you’ve burned anyone… you know, to death, or anything.”

“If you’re afraid of me, Marling, then you have answer you need. This is… this won’t go away.” He held his hand out towards her, the flame dancing over his slender, pale fingers. “You come all the way here from across the world. This is something you need to know, because I can’t show you this five years ago.”

No, five years ago she’d met a heavily inebriated Russian at a party thrown by a mutual friend. Five years ago the weirdest thing about Viktor was how he pronounced “little” and dropped words out of sentences and mixed up his tenses.

Five years ago the most confusing thing about Viktor was his utter disbelief in fortune cookies.

Hmmm… when I’m wearing something I feel sexy in and I’m in a crowded area (a convention, big city, etc). When I was in NYC last time, I actually felt attractive for once thanks to my favorite mod dress and lipstick. And it does make a huge difference when there are people that I find attractive around. Usually in my area there aren’t any so I sort of sink back into ‘dorky literary girl in a hurry.’ Even my mom is always telling me that I walk in such a hurry and keep my head down so much that I’m invisible. Thx mom lololol

I dunno about outside opinion though. I have no idea if anyone EVER finds me sexy or if that’s a word that just doesn’t apply.

What do you think of the Kindle Worlds publishing platform that Amazon announced today?

I only heard a little about this, I’ll need to read more about it! I know some people have turned their backs on amazon in general (I just saw an article about that yesterday, in fact) but I’ve always thought amazon is a really useful tool, especially since a lot of its business is regular people like you or me who are buying and selling their used stuff.

But I’ll go take a look!

technically speaking, an “antisocial” teenager would freak me out indeed. antisocial = against people, liers, cheaters, mental disorder // asocial = shy and introverted. dumb tumblr ppl!

I KNOW HAHAHA. idk if it’s in vogue to be ‘anti-social’ right now among the kids these days but I’ve known anti-social people all my life. My dad’s one of them. He’s never had any friends and he’s done his damndest to ruin all relationships any of us could have with the outside world. I just don’t understand why someone would wear that as a badge when I’ve seen what 60+ years of it does to someone. It’s not pretty. Several of my best friends are introverts but GOD it’s not because they hate people/want to be rude. I’m just too old for this place sometimes, I think :P
